Is here is a picture of the back. Could it be Josef Hofman?

I'm sorry, I don't think I can be of much help. You know a lot more older Danish art than I do Hans.

I think I have seen about ten paintings by Henrik Jespersen, and I don't think any of them had a similar monogram. Most of them were signed Henrik J. One had the monogram HJ with a dot over the J (photo attached).

Bent Ørberg's book "Monogrammer 1807 - 1887" shows a similar signature and a similar monogram to the ones shown below (although not quite the same), but NOT a monogram like bwennero's.

Regards,
Vietato

Henrik Gamst Jespersen (1853-1936) painted mostly landscapes, this looks like a self portrait and could be interesting for collectors. If you show us the backside it would be great, I'm 99% sure it's him at least the monogram is similar also in the red color he liked to sign with.
Perhaps Vietato can help here as well.

I think the signature looks like Henrik Gamst Jespersen (1853-1936) Denmark. Please show more pictures.

The monogram is the initials JH and dated 1918. Can we have alook at the entire painting?

Thanks,
