Hello, I have purchased this oil painting at an auction, they had no idea who it was, just said old painting. I think the signature reads Berry or Berey, I have tried every Berry ( I think), no success. In the back, the stamp from the Gallery that sold the art, one one of the top gallery in Montreal at that time "Gallerie l'Art Français", they started their business in 1934 and were sold in 1975. the oil painting is on canvas, the size of the painting is 14" x 11". Can someone help me to identify the artist ? Thanks.

I read "Berey", but don't find the artist.
Only this "Berry", who is a little bit similar in style and signature.

But it doesn't really help.

Hi,

It could be the frame has just been matched uo with the painting, because it fitted. The paper on the frame has no remnants on the painting at all ,you would think there would be one little bit.I dont know why it would have been removed from the frame, maybe to be cleaned...but a restorer would have made sure it would have been put back together again..properly.I have tried a quick search for thr artist but like you came up with nothing
,
Regards
