Hello,

A local collector brought this mixed media on paper in to see if I could identify the artist. Quality is good, but I can't decipher the signature. Signed on the back and titled.

Size is 16 1/4" x 15 3/4"

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for the leads. I think it is a quality piece of art, but it is a puzzle. There is also the monogram to the left in the photo.

Any ideas on the region? Eastern European?

I will never understand why so many artists have to write illegibly.

The first part of the phrase (G* G*) I think it could be the title of painting ( a name perhaps) , while the word "Bum" could be referred to Umberto Mario Baldassari , an italian futurist painter called Bum.

It's a tough signature - if it is a signature!
It could be written by another person, who might be a dyslexic German, if the title is supposed to be "Bauern" (farmers) and not "Buern". If so, the name could be misspelled too.

At first glance the drawing reminded me of Danish artist Anker Landberg (1916-1973), but it is not by him. His favorite subject was fishermen.
