Looking for help on another painting.

This one is oil on masonite, about 25 inches X 21 inches. Executed with a palette knife.

I can't quite make out the signature, looks like "Beckman" or something similar.

Anyone recognize it?

The back of the painting has an interesting label stuck to the masonite. Note the date of 1959 in the upper right corner.

Thanks for your help!

It looks as though the signature is 'Buchanan'. I'll keep looking for you,

The style is very similar to Leonardo Nierman. The label is for some type of photo film or photo paper.

Don't have anything to add on the signature.

Thank you, jhomejimbo, saintluc and suede for your input. I haven't been able yet to find any works similar to this one with those names, I'll keep looking.

Suede, I also thought the style was similar to Nierman, especially this example, which is also oil on masonite, done in 1963:

If the label on the back of mine is relevant, then the date of 1959 on it means that that artist was a contemporary of Nierman, and may have been influenced by him.

I'm revisiting this work after setting it aside for a while.

This is a long shot, but the name "Hannes Beckmann" popped up in my searching.

His style doesn't match this piece, but what I found interesting is that as well as a painter, he was a major photographer. The fact that my painting is done on what looks like a board that was part of a container that a large photographic plate came in is coincidental.

I haven't found a lot of signatures, but what I've seen isn't that different from the one on my piece.

And his working time frame in the U.S. would coincide with the 1959 date on the back.

As I said, it's a long shot especially considering the stylistic differences.

Here's are links to some information about the artist:
