I acquired this oil on canvas board recently. It is 36X24 inches. It is a 20th century piece and the canvas board seems home made. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
nyart

Just my ideas/impressions: I feel that it is Spain, not Latin America and first initial is "V"(obvious?) but that there may be a 2nd initial "L" before surname,(at 1st glance, next 2 marks, after "V", seem to be "H", but there is no cross mark. This led me to consider what might be a surname 1st letter of"L", but why would it be made differently than the one before it? I considered Hernandez and variations, Hermendez, etc.; however, with the smudge or washed out letter(s) further down and with many what look like "n"s and "m"s earlier, the deciphering is much harder. I know that I ramble but thought my thinking May help in the long term. Best!
