Any thoughts or input on this oil painting would be much appreciated. The canvas is very dirty and has writing on the lower back spreader which I can't make out yet. The canvas size is 16" H x 24" W. A partial label under the spreader indicates that this was sold by A. P. Chalke in London (see photo of complete label).

Thank you SO MUCH for any input that you may be able to provide.

Grazia!

Bruce

Its a generic 19 c. seascape image typical of the time, with out a signature not much else could be said.

Have a good look around the painting, Sometimes these type of paintings are signed in places other then the usual lower left or right.

The flags should provide a clue, though I've yet to identify them.

Cant help too much- a typical English looking mid C19th seascape but with Danish flags. I think the flag on the blue ground had links to the Danish West Indies.
