Hopefully someone can help decipher this signature.

It is an oil on artist’s board measuring about 8.0x10.0 inches and appears to have quite some age to it.

I thank all for looking and appreciate any help.

The signature is obviously difficult in real life, yet the photo provided isn't even in focus to let it be seen as clearly as it could be.

Aside from authorship, though, if you haven't noticed (not mentioned), I just thought I'd point out that it's been chopped. That's a pretty decent little (older) frame it's in, albeit could do with being restored and doesn't suit the painting that well. But the board has been chopped on 3 sides to make it smaller to fit the frame and the frame has been channelled out on two sides, as well, to accommodate it further. That's not too good to see, whoever it's by.

Job,

Thank you for your observations.

I have removed the painting and tried taking additiinal pics, but due to the texture of the surface, I am not able to find the right focus. Also, the name was not written too clearly.

I have been told that the trees or Lombardy Poplars, probably Italian, and that it was not unusual for the last name to be written first.

I am still having trouble; perhaps you or someone else has less difficulty.

I thank you for your efforts to help.

Looks like it might say Walter Russell. Maybe this artist?
