Hello, this is a large 4ft by 2ft crayon on hardboard. Signed indistinctly. A car boot find in the UK, though I have no idea where it originates from. Any help would be appreciated.
Interesting. One can see "Ben Macala" in that signature, now one knows what it is.
And I rather like the work too. I'd have jumped at it if I'd seen it. I think he's underrated. One to keep for a while, I think, until the South African market sits up and takes more notice of him.
Thank you Coopers! South Africa had never entered my thoughts. I was inclined to think it was by the appearance South American, or by the signature Eastern Europe.
It was the confidence and sureness in the lines and circles about the face that led me to think it was by someone who could be known. I am not too surprised his other work is so similar. He has a good bio.
