Please identify the artist. Probably 18th century.

Can't read the signature, but immediate presumption was that who painted it isn't really very significant. It looks like one of the many copies, painted to effect (and put in nice little Florentine frames), produced to sell to higher end tourists in the 19th century. Arguably still a "grand tour" piece, but they did go on producing the like for a long time. That it's Beethoven, could indicate opportunistically having been painted to commemorate his death in 1827 or near after, but could be later too.

For the record, Beethoven's dates were 1770 to 1827, so he wasn't old enough for your portrait to have been painted in the 18th century.

What is curious, though, is that when I went to look to see who painted the assumed original image, that August Ludwig Stein portrait seems only to have been "discovered" in 1996! Not sure how much sense that makes since there are also vintage postcards of the image way earlier than that.
