Hi, members,

This is a very old religious oil painting on canvas - 28" x 36".
It was relined, possibly by the 'Tyndale Collection', in approximately 2000, and is in amazing condition, despite some wrinkling on the periphery. It is in it's original frame.
I don't seem to recognize the image, with the two halos and the birds at the feet of the Madonna.
If one of the members might recognize the style, I would appreciate any input. Also, if someone might know about the 'Tyndale Collection'.
Thanks, so much!
Regards,
Jimmy N

The bird on the left is clearly a swalllow, and I think the one on the right is meant to be one too. The swallow has sometimes been used as a symbol of the resurrection - presumably because as a migratory bird it disappears and returns.

Thank you, again, Hercules,
It must, indeed, be the "Madonna of the Swallows". It is, hopefully, a step in the right direction. I would think this painting is from the 19th century, possibly not a copy.
I really appreciate your input.
It seems to be a painting created for a church, judging by its size.
Best regards, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and all that (and to all the members),.

It was widely believed - up until Gilbert WHite in the 18th century - that swallows hibernated in the mud at the bottom of ponds, rather than flying off elsewhere, which perhaps made them rather better symbols of the resurrection.
