Dear members,

These three watercolors were purchased in Palm Beach, Florida, in 1969. They were in three separate lots. I've always been intrigued by them.
The image size of each, is 12" x 18".
I can't seem to tell if they are European. It is the impression I had, when I bought them.
The signature looks like, 'Aue', or 'Arce'. I am stumped, but so curious about the artist.
If you discover who it may be, I'd love to hear from you.

Thank you, again, members! I hope you're having a healthy New Year.

Regards,
Jimmy N

Angelo,

Thanks, so much, for your information. It could very well be "Alle Terez". There is not much listed about him/her, but the style of the painting of the two figures, and the signature, seems quite similar.

I don't know what this style of painting is called. If someone might have an idea, I would appreciate any input.

This is, certainly, a step in the right direction, Angelo. Thanks, very much!

Best Regards,
Jimmy N.

I read "Arie", which does not make it any easier as it is/was a common first name among both the Dutch (from Adriaan) and the Jews (from Aaron, Arjéh). The neat hand-writing could well be Dutch, but the flowing colours are foreign to my Dutch eye. The inverted commas suggest it is a nickname or pseudonym.

Thanks, arb,

I just thought that this style might be obvious to someone. I appreciate your response.

Thanks, again,

Jimmy N.
