Hello Forum,

here I have another painting in question ..... this is probably a long shot but wanted to try anyhow .... expressionist oil painting on Masonite board, size 9 x 12 inches, came from South Florida (US) estate. No date. Faint signature in the top right corner and then the same signature (as it is a stamped signature) to the verso (top left corner). No idea who the artist is but seller thought this was a portrait of Picasso .... I am hoping somebody can recognize the signature and let me know who the artist was ......

Thank you once again for your time!

Cyril.

Hi Cyril,

I think your artist is Harold Cohn (1908-1982). Plenty of comps online that are very similar in style and the signature looks good to me.

Very good, Coopers!
I don't think I would have ever thought of the signature being Cohn, but it is definitely him:

Thank you very much, Coopers and Vietato!

It is indeed Harold Cohn! I have looked at his other works and the signature is identical and the style matches perfectly. To be honest, when I was trying the signature I thought of C and O to be the first letters but was quite puzzled about the rest of the signature. Thank you once again!

best,
Cyril.
