Being almost 80 years old, I'm going through many of my paintings, which I've questioned as to their origin, creator, value.
This painting has a great deal of impasto, placed strategically across the canvas. It has always haunted me, because it was originally stretched on a 19" x 24" stretcher. It was, then extended to a 20" x 24" stretcher, to fit a more common 20" x 24" frame.
This original oil, was first attached to its original stretcher with nails. When switching to the new, larger frame, it was stapled to the newer, larger stretcher. I will revert it back to nails in a stretcher that is 19' x 24".
I believe this painting to be of excellent quality. I just can't figure out the signature. I know that it is probably an obvious signature - I just can't see it.
If you have any ideas, please help.
I would appreciate it, very much.
Because of the mystery, it is becoming a favorite painting of mine.
Thank you,
Jimmy N.
