Please, who knowns the painter? It is monogrammed and dated? Think ist is from France?

It is not monogrammed, the Latin abbreviation means the sitter was 66 years old when in 1806 the portrait was painted. The high collar does indeed point at French origin and the format does too. The painter no doubt was a listed society artist. Any indications or clues on the back?

There are no hints on the back. Who could I ask for the painter? Fench auction houses..?

Yes, you could try that. But there is enough international expertise nearby at the Dorotheum, Kinsky etc. The French auction system is complicated, French auctioneers (half civil servant, half entrepreneur) do not feel obliged to answer. French art forums come and go, most are hardly ever in use. And older portraiture has a stylistic knack: the artist had little freedom. The French art world relies heavily on independent experts. The one I was lucky with is this one:

In many such cases people put their mystery items up for bidding as classifieds on leboncoin, Kijiji, Ebay Kleinanzeigen etc. without the intention of selling. If valuable, the item will attract buyers. It often provides unknown info. And then you may sell anyway :)
