and here is the 2nd item that I am seeking a help from the forum experts.
This is an etching, also matted and framed. Art window measures 6 x 8 inches and comes to roughly 17 x 20 inches when framed. Etching is signed in pencil in the bottom right corner. The first name seems to read Albrecht (I can surely read "Albre....." part only though) but last name remains a total mystery.
But this is where it gets interesting. Please notice how the wagon says "Express" (in German) on the side and the top has 2 letters A and G ..... I believe this may be artist's initials, suggesting the last name in signature starts with G ... but sadly I was not able to come up with any names for the artist. Also hat shows 2 letter PF but I am not sure of its meaning ... The verso has some numbers written, could be pointing to the date it was framed: 12-4-50 (for April 12th, 1950)?? and also word HALO (not sure of its meaning either).
If it is the artists initials on the wagon does this mean we have an artist (drunken) in front of us? sort of a comic self-portrait? or maybe not ...
does anyone have any ideas as to what we are dealing with here please ...?
