Hello,

May I bring your attention to another oil painting I am trying to determine authorship ...?

Quite colorful oil on hard board, measures approx 22 x 18 inches for the board and comes to 26 x 22 inches when framed (nice frame). No visible signature on the front but inscribed to the verso. 10F mark obviously points to French origin of the artist/painting but the inscription itself puzzles me: "Em. Ma(or u?)k, Em Brill" ...??
I can only read last part of it - April 66 ..... Does anyone have any ideas as to what the inscription means (I have not tried to translate it yet though) .... ?Could be artist's motto or famous expression perhaps ...???

Thank you very much.
Cyril.

That's merely a reminder for either the artist, the framer or the owner, stating the painting was varnished matte first and then glossy (brill.) in 1966. "April" is the English spelling, not French. So not much to go on.

Hello Arb,

Thank you very much for shared info. This is what I call "live and learn"! it was silly of me to think it might have had a different meaning ... Thank you very much once again.

Cyril.
