I do not mean to take advantage of this kind forum that has already helped me a lot but I do have one more watercolor painting that I am trying to identify the artist of.
Very delicate, hazy, mellow, almost fragile plein air watercolor that seems to be depicting Venice scene (judging by the gondolas). Size is approx 18 x 14 inches and is signed by the artist in the bottom right corner. I could have sworn I have seen this signature before on different art works but never knew who the artist was anyway. I hope somebody can recognize him or her. Not dated but I think this is not antique but rather mid century painting created in this bold expressionist manner but with soft and muted colors.
Even if the signature isn't similar to his standard one , I think it could be a work of painter Virgilio Guidi. He did a lot of works with Venice subject.
Thank you for your suggestion. I have not heard of this artist until you mentioned him but I just looked at his other works and I do see the similarities with his other Venice w/c paintings ..... it is definitely worth deeper research into this which is what I am going to do now ...
