This is a nice painting on board. We always thought it was Portuguese, but the maker cannot be found and it may well be Italian. Would anyone have an idea?

Dear mariajose',

This, surely, looks as though it might be an original, or copy of, "Ferdinando Silvani", an Italian painter, around the turn of the 19th/20th Century. He is listed in, "Askart". There is a picture of one of his paintings, like yours, without the sailboat.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,
Hope your family is safe,

Jimmy N

He is also listed with photographs in, "Invaluable.com". "Ferdinando Silvani" (1823 - 1899)

Cheers,

Oh my, thank you both!! We were reading Silvain or Silvori. If you're stuck in a certain name, other possibilities don't always present themselves easily.... Thanks again!
