Your poster has nothing to do with Jorge Luis Borges in my opinion. After an hour of research I see it this way: In the 30ths of the 20th century there was a photographer with the name Borges working for Keystone/France. He made this photograph in the 30ths. Many different creators used this picture for different designs. Your poster was printed 1989 in France with the reference to the original photographer. You can buy the poster everywhere, here in Germany for 25 Euro: http://www.germanposters.de/borges.html Regards Wasbach

found several references to the original photo:
"a black-and-white photo of a young Jorge Luis Borges (the writer), riding two blocks of ice attached to his feet in the Place de la Concorde, Paris, while being towed by an automobile. Appears to have been taken in the 1920s-1930s."

This might be a good explanation. But did you really find "several" references? More than this comment on Ebay? Please show it to us, thank you. Regards Wasbach
P.S.: Why should they not write, that it is Jorge Luis Borges, while trying to sell this poster?: http://gallery.bestpicture.ch/bestpicture/category-1/picture-122/?q7=en

oops.. all the 'multiple' threads refer back to that posting. should've clicked and checked my fault D:
The ice skating would have been a heck of a picture and would have/should have been included in any biography, so a check there might yield answers.
here's a pic of young Borges, there are similarities.
